"Best in the West...and the Rest"
DIED WHILE SERVING
What midshipmen must come to realize is that "Harm's Way" is the road most taken by those who survive the rigors of NROTC and move on as officers of Sailors or Marines. Death is always in play, a grim reaper in combat but no less driving home from a picnic.
Our response must be to focus on the mission and defend those who expect us to fulfill our role to lead. Their fate is how we judge our success, not our own. In the looming (and lurking) dangers of Harm's Way, we embrace our calling. This is where honor resides.
